A casual perusal of the 27-year-old artist's five-song EP, Currently (Maverick), removes any doubt about Simons' capacity for emotional nakedness, though his rootsy, guitar-driven songs are attired in stylish arrangements that showcase his rich, often spooky melodies. Indeed, the disc's delicate, down-home title track is already in rotation on influential L.A. public radio station KCRW.
